Day Programs

Offered in many locations throughout Jacksonville, adult day-training programs support individuals in daily, meaningful, valued routines of the community. Four specialized program areas provide a continuum of services based on individual goals and appropriate levels of variation and interest. Training is person-centered and developed under the direction of the recipient intended to foster independence and enhance individuals’ quality of life.

Triumph Industries Day Program
Triumph Industries is the facility-based component of the agency’s employment services, and it gives people the chance to learn skills for more complete lives. It also includes structured activities and allows participants to earn a paycheck. Community-college instructors train participants in adult basic education, daily living skills and social skills based on individual choices and preferences.

In this work-like environment, our staff encourages and fosters performance that can be used in competitive community employment. Successful, integrated employment remains the cornerstone of activities designed to enable individuals to reach their fullest potential.

Life-Skills Program
The Life Skills Program specializes in serving people who require an intense level of staff supoort. The program teaches communication and social skills, personal and community safety, hygiene, nutrition, exercise, basic reading, and math. Emphasis is given to helping people with behaviors of concern learn new ways to communicate their needs and emotions. Program personnel work closely with behavior analysts to ensure success in this day program. The Life Skills Program helps people receiving services gain the skills they need to become as independent as possible in their homes and future work settings.

Medically Fragile Program
The Medically Fragile Program is unique in the local community and is designed to serve individuals with significant needs. Program participants may need special positioning, feeding tubes, catheters or other medically necessary equipment that requires staff support, monitoring and maintenance. They may also need therapies that can be provided only by trained medical personnel.

Each individual is given a wide choice of activities and training for improving their communication skills, socialization, daily living, self-care and basic academics. The participants are supported by a full-time nurse and staff members trained in necessary health-maintenance procedures.

A specialized program called A.R.T. (Artistic Realization Technologies) allows participants to express themselves by creating original paintings. These paintings have been showcased throughout Jacksonville and are sold and displayed in many local businesses. The Medically Fragile Program Provided A Way For King To Express Himself
King has been participating in The Arc Jacksonville’s Medically Fragile Program since March 2002. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, he has limited use of his extremities but can still communicate verbally. King has benefited from our A.R.T. program, which allows those with severe physical challenges to create works of art. King’s pieces have been displayed in many locations throughout Jacksonville, including the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center, the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art and Starbucks in San Marco.

Seniors Program
Our seniors program addresses the needs of senior citizens who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and who seek engagement in leisure activities. Located in a city nutrition site, it offers participants daily contact with seniors who do not have disabilities. Through group activities, participants are given a chance to define their own places as valued community members. They are also offered a variety of recreational activities and training opportunities that help them maintain their acquired skills while building new ones. Community outings are also offered and are based on the individual interests and preferences of program participants.
