On Saturday, May 16, 2009, The Arc Jacksonville will be participating in the RITA Caring and Sharing Hope 5K Walk/Run, hosted by The RITA Foundation. The RITA Foundation, a non-profit organization emphasizing cancer awareness and research, has invited other non-profits to participate in the event and raise money for their own organization through designated sponsorship dollars.
The Arc Jacksonville is excited to be a part of a "race within a race."The RITA Foundation has pledged that 100% of our raised sponsorship money will come directly back to The Arc Jacksonville. This money is crucial to maintaining quality programs and services for the individuals we serve.
By sponsoring The Arc Jacksonville in the RITA 5K Walk/Run, you will benefit by knowing that you are helping to offset significant federal and state cuts that have recently struck our organization. These cuts have resulted in difficulties in maintaining programs for our program participants, programs that provide community employment, day, mental-health, behavioral and residential services.These programs provide the support and advocacy that this underserved portion of our population so desperately needs and deserves.
Events such as the RITA 5K Walk/Run give us the opportunity us to raise the necessary funds to maintain our current programs.We hope that you will support our ongoing efforts by joining us in the run or sponsoring our participants in this event.
