The Arc Jacksonville is recruiting 6 VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) Members to serve in the Jacksonville community expanding The Arc Jacksonville’s capacity to serve Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. VISTA members will receive a living stipend every two weeks during their year of service(totaling approximately $11,200). At the end of the year they qualify for an education award of $5,200. They receive a health benefit, life insurance and some other benefits during their service. VISTA – Volunteer and Community Partner Development
Job summary:
Increase the economic status of individuals with I/DD and expand their level and ease of access to services and resources by building diverse partnerships, research funding sources, and building a coalition of volunteers to aid with community based programming.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Design volunteer plan for Hodges Planned Community to include position descriptions, schedule template and manual.
• Recruit volunteers and train to assist with providing local community based services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Identify and build collaborative partnerships with five agencies who will aid in providing community based services for individuals with I/DD.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in achieving professional goals with the ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently and independently while handling various projects simultaneously. Must have experience in database research and demonstrated proficiency in a variety of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. VISTA – Agency Development
Job summary:

VISTA – Employment Services
Position Objective:
To solicit new accounts to ensure that the agency is provided with meaningful and diverse employment opportunities for individuals with developmental/ intellectual disabilities as needed to continue to successfully pursue the agency mission.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Interface with local corporate community to procure new jobs.
• Interface with the Director of Employment Services and Production Coordinator to ensure attainment of assigned goals.
• Represent The Arc Jacksonville at various corporate networking opportunities and trade shows.
• Actively promote all employment services of The Arc Jacksonville.
• Develop and maintain a database for tracking contacts.

VISTA – Financial Literacy
Job summary:
Build a task force of at least five community volunteers and partners who will design and administer training in the area of community resources, benefit programs and literacy for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Build a taskforce of at least five community volunteers and partners who will design and administer training in the area of community resources, benefit programs and financial literacy for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Coordinate training of 50 individuals with I/DD and their families that will improve their understanding of community resources, benefit programs and financial literacy.

VISTA – Hodges Project Development
Position Objective:
To have in place within three years the infrastructure to provide over 100 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) secure affordable housing by the end of the completion of the Hodges project. Research and evaluate supportive housing models, state of the art technology in energy efficiency, service provision and financial vehicles necessary to start the affordable, supportive community of home and apartments with a collaborative community of partners.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Develop a fundraising plan to support the Hodges Project including compiling a database of funding opportunities and producing at least two fundraising events that have the potential to be held in the future.
• Research and identify financial vehicles available at national, state and community level such as the Low Income Tax Credit program, HUD 811, Community Development Block Grant and other pertinent to those with I/DD.
• Assist in department activities related to cultivation, acquisition and recognition of donors.

VISTA – Hodges Project Research Assistant
Position Objective:
Conduct activities and research relating to the development of Hodges Village, a planned residential community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Review existing materials on planned residential communities in the U.S. through research on the internet and other published data.
• Gather information and provide written summary of researched materials.
• Research public and private sources of funding for affordable housing.
• Assist the Executive Director with the preparation of grant applications and proposals.
• Perform supporting activities in the data gathering process, to including preparing questionnaires or locating and screening residents for the community.
• Identify opportunities for public speaking engagements to heighten awareness of Hodges Village.
• Assist with the development and design of a Powerpoint for public speaking.
• Work closely with development team and marketing staff.

Part-Time Custodial/Floor Technician
(25 hours per week, 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. M-F)
LOCATION: St. John’s River Community College
Orange Park, FL
JOB DESCRIPTION: General cleaning of offices daily (including dusting, vacuuming, etc.). Weekly mopping and buffing floors in high traffic areas.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and experience in custodial work and floor tech skills strongly desired. Must have valid Florida driver license and reliable transportation. Must be reliable, responsible and able to work independently. Must be able to pass background screening and pre-employment drug screening.
SALARY: $8.50 per hour
PART TIME ON CALL COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL FACILITATOR I
JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting to ensure safety, comfort, and protection of individual rights. Provide direction, assistance and support for all aspects of self-care and daily living activities. Assist in dealing with medical, behavioral, and emotional issues. Assist in meal preparation, laundry and housekeeping chores. Complete required documentation and paperwork.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required. Must have good communication skills and be energetic, reliable, patient, and responsible. Must have valid Florida driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
SALARY: $8.50 per hour
